Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his first championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.

The win also means he has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour victory, took control to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
